AN-E
The AN-E must be the most efficient wide band speaker of moderate size on the market, with an effective bandwidth from 18 Hz to 23 kHz at -6 dB, efficiency better than 95 dB/m and a dynamic headroom above 108 dB. The extremely high efficiency is retained well over the bandwidth, and makes the AN-E very suited to the high quality, low-power triode amplifiers.
The AN-E is a two-way, ported enclosure, with a carefully designed cabinet which is shaped to enhance and aid driver dispersion on one hand, and bass output on the other. The cabinet is lightly braced and little internal damping is used. The cabinet is designed in such a way that it augments and supports the drivers in their task, not unlike the box of a guitar. The drivers are selected and paired before they are matched to the crossover in the same process as the AN-K and AN-J.
Far too much of the high-end audio marketplace is occupied by low-efficiency loudspeaker systems – several less-than-ideally-matched drivers and a very complex, (read: life-sucking), crossover – all housed in a cabinet doing its best impression of reinforced concrete or petrified wood. Of necessity, they are paired with high-powered, nearly always solid-state amplifiers in an attempt to jump-start their (and your) hearts. 10 times the power applied to a speaker which is 10dB less efficient will produce the requisite sound pressure level, but what about coherency, full natural micro-, as well as macro-, dynamics, inner detail? What about LIFE?
What about the musicians’ delivery of their and the composer’s EMOTION? Sorry, they’re just not part of the “High Performance Audio” design brief. And music suffers for it.
The design of the AN-E Loudspeaker, by contrast, calls for a cabinet made from materials that complement the workings of the chosen drive units. Instead of trying to kill the resonances in the cabinet, we tailor the cabinet to place the resonances in frequency bands where they aid and enhance the operation of the drive units,
culminating in a loudspeaker system that makes the most of the preceding amplifier’s output. The drive units employed in the AN-E have been developed with our very active participation and are manufactured to our specifications.
The crossover is simple – essentially first order – hardwired and incorporates careful location of components, both in relation to each other, and also in relation to the woofer’s magnet, which influences the behaviour of the crossover a great deal. The crossover uses air-cored chokes and select bipolar and polypropylene capacitors. (In the Signature models, copper foil, and in the Sogon, silver foil.) The AN-E internal cabling consists of varying numbers of either 99.99% pure copper or 99.99% pure silver wire, depending on the exact model. (See specifications.) This combination of design approach, parts quality and manufacturing process yields an extremely even load characteristic as well as a very flat power/frequency response that remains within tightly controlled limits throughout its working bandwidth. Each complete loudspeaker is individually adjusted under dynamic operatin conditions, using proprietary software, in order to compensate for the slight variations that always exist in drive units and assures precise uniformity of sonic performance. This individual adjustment, and matching to a reference, of each crossover network to each pair of drive units allows an unparalleled degree of sample-to-sample consistency not only within pairs of loudspeakers, but also from one pair to another. Every AN-E loudspeaker’s performance is within 0.4dB of its mate and our reference response curve. To the best of our knowledge, no other loudspeaker manufacturer achieves such close matching and tests 100% of its production. The result? Maximum efficiency and dynamic behaviour. And Life. AN-J
The AN-J models offer higher sensitivity and better bass performance, combined with a more dynamic presentation than the AN-K, in an enclosure that is about three times the volume.
The AN-J is a ported enclosure with an efficiency better than 93 dB/m and bass that goes down to 25 Hz at -6 dB. The AN-J is capable of reproducing the scale and intensity of most well-recorded music very realistically.
Like all our other loudspeakers, the AN-J undergoes the same painstaking driver selection and matching process, which ensures the closest tolerances within a pair in the entire audio industry.

AN-K
The The AN-K is a bookshelf-sized loudspeaker capable of a bandwidth from 50 Hz to 20 Hz (-6 dB) with an efficiency of around 90 dB/m.
Careful pair matching, first by drive unit selection, secondly by pairing drive units with suitable characteristics to each other, and then finally by individually adjusting each speaker’s curve, under dynamic conditions to a master curve.
The AN-K cabinet is made from materials that compliment the workings of the chosen drive units, where we, instead of trying to damp the resonances in the cabinet, place them in frequency bands where they aid and enhance the drive unit’s work. This novel and quite difficult method helps to ensure maximum efficiency and dynamic behaviour.

Audio Note AZ-3
Audio Notes högtalare AZ-3 är lite större och har högre verkningsgrad än sina småsyskon AZ-1 och AZ-2.
AZ-3′an har en känslighet på hela 95db/w/m.
Technical Information
Audio Note AZ-Three is a two-way speaker system of a hybrid transmission line, folded horn, and bass reflex design. Dimensions are 1000*280*344 mm (H*W*D).
Crossover frequency is 4 kHz. The tweeter is the 25-mm impregnated cloth dome, and the woofer is the 200-mm paper cone. The speakers are nicely efficient, about
95 dB, according to our measurements. The shape of the bass response is dictated by the cabinet design providing installation versatility of the speakers. The boost at
3.5 kHz is possibly caused by the flexure of the paper cone; the corresponding coloration is virtually inaudible. As a whole, the frequency response looks well-balanced.
The harmonic distortion in the essential frequency range is no more than 0.5% both at 0.5 (88 dB) and 1 Pa (94 dB) signal. Bass distortion is rather low; the significance
of the peak at 100 Hz should not be overstated, because it has only minor audible consequences.

The massive AZ-Three is the rightful top model of the Absolute Zero speaker range produced by the legendary Audio Note well-known among the audiophiles. The
tailored design of the system lays a kind of emphasis on the fact that the main task of any speaker system is (to reproduce) sound. Its unique design shows
inexhaustible potentialities of classical speakers. The idea of using interfering low-frequency acoustic properties of the room to aid bass response seems very attractive
and, at the same time, causes some suspicion. At least, a wide field is open for do-it-yourself experiments. The leader of the range is expectedly similar to the AZ-2
(S&V no.3, 2000). However, AZ-Three has a different tweeter. The wide horn mouth has become even wider. The binding posts enable bi-wiring. The capacitors and
wiring can be upgraded to better ones (at extra cost, or course).
In accurate, deep, and, above all, clear bass is not surprising at all; this is the family feature. In general, the fundamental advantage of AZ-Three is an excellent image
clarity, which is due to the low harmonic and intermodulation distortion. The small value of the latter is responsible for the excellent quality of choral vocals, which is a
rare and significant advantage even for high-class speakers. The voices in the monolith stream form a well-readable pattern, the ear relaxes listening to the harmony
unobstructed by the characteristic dredge. I won’t have the heart to speak about genre preferences; both rock and the most complicated classical music are played
easily. Treble is very nice; its exhaustiveness, austerity, and the absence of unnecessary accents is to the audiophile’s taste. The sound stage imaging is stable across
the front. The sound stage is even as if it grows as a single solid wall; the third dimension is not thoroughly elaborated though. Nevertheless, the image is shaped rather
eloquently. Note that the spatial effects are strongly dependent on the speaker position in the room. In this connection, we strongly recommend to follow the placement
instructions given by the manufacturer.
In addition to the genre neutrality mentioned above, the indifference to the room size should be mentioned as an advantage. The speakers can be safely placed in a
very small room without a risk of spoiling the bass. Their high sensitivity gives one a free hand in choosing an amplifier; in particular, a combination with a valve amplifier
can be very interesting.
